Hi all,
It is my honor to serve as your president of our IOBG Chapter in 2012.
With all the support from our members and our club members we had a great
year in 2011.
We served champagne on opening day and raised funds for the IOBG
Humanitarian Foundation which supports many programs in our community.
Our chapter is always ready for more of our members to join with us at our
events. New events are planned for the coming year, please check our web
from time to time.
We will have our SC luncheon in July and more details will follow in 2012.
Our first meeting will be in February, Monday the 27th at 6:30 in our club
house.
If you need more information please free to contact me, or our board. The
boards information is in your directory.
Thanks and see you soon.

SMYC Chapter Blue Gavel
The International Order of the Blue Gavel is an organization of past
commodores. The mission of the IOBG is to recognize past commodores
of the international yachting community and unite them in order to
promote the highest ideals of yachting and preserve its customs and
traditions through social, educational and humanitarian programs.
Past commodores are offered to join this selective group after
completing their term of office by a majority of each chapters IOBG
members, it is not an automatic selection and is a privilege to be
sworn into the organization.
The IOBG has a board at the international level that meets four
times a year at regional meetings and an annual meeting. The Area
vice-presidents represent these regions of the country: Northeast,
Southeast, Southwest, and Northwest and North Central. Each area is
divided into districts which consist of chapters (yacht clubs) or
members-at-large. All members have voting delegates at the annual
meeting in October each year.
The District 15 is Southern California and comprises of 103 members
from 14 yacht clubs and members-at-large. Your SMYC chapter has 12
members. The 2011 Board for SMYC Chapter: President Liz Murtland,
Secretary Linda Loftis and Treasure Bill Thayer.
All yacht club bridge officers and members are always welcome to
events such as the Yacht Club Management Seminar and social
fund-raisers. We have several programs with IOBGA (the auxiliary
consisting of spouses of past commodores) which we put together
during the year.
